breaking news, next at eleven. kron4 has learned a deadly marine base shooting in connection. the alleged gunman, and one of his two victims are both from the bay area. new tonight -- their just released identities, along with new information about the shooting. next. breaking news tonight at eleven. kron4 has just learned the

gunman, and one victim, in a deadly marine base shooting. are from the bay area. the shooter has been identified as 25-year-old sergeant eusebio lopez from pacifica. authorities say he shot two other marines at the quantico virginia base, then turned the gun on himself. he was a tactics instructor -- and his specialty was machine gunner -- he joined the marines in 2006. also new tonight -- we now know one of his victims was 19-year-old lance corporal. sara castromata from oakley. she served as a warehouse clerk.. she had been a marine since 2011. the other victim -- 23-year- old corporal jacob wooley from mississippi., was a field radio operator. the deadly shooting happened overnight thursday into friday morning. this is video from near the scene. the crime happened on the campus of the officer candidates' school at quantico-- a historic training and war-strategy base for the marines. right now, kron4 crews are reaching out to family of the alleged shooter and victims. we will bring any new information, as soon as we get it. now at eleven. a robbery in a quiet east bay neighborhood takes a deadly turn.

a man shot and killed, while trying to stop a pair of thieves from ripping off a family member. it happened in san leandro. marking the city's first homicide of the year. new tonight, kron4 talks with concerned neighbors. but first phillipe djegal shows us how the tragedy played out. >> reporter: a woman was unloading some items out of her car in this driveway. on the 15-thousand 500 block of harbor way. when the san leandro police say two suspects approached her. before 9-30 friday night and tried to rob her. moments later. the woman's son-in-law walked out of the front door and tried to intervene. police say one of the suspects then opened fire. shooting the man, who was later pronounced dead at a hospital. the woman was not injured. police have released a vague description of the suspects. two african american's. both adults. a man and possibly a woman. investigators say they left the area in a dark colored sedan. in san leandro, philippe djegal, kron four news.

new at eleven. kron4 talked to michael demordaunt -- who has lived in that neighborhood for 10 years. he says he was devastated to hear about about happened to the family a few doors down from him. >> i always see them in and out and tending to their lawns and flowers. they seemed to have a very close- knit family always hosting family gatherings. where did this come from? and why? this is ridiculous. >> reporter: you moved into a neighborhood to avoid incidences like this? >> yes we thought that we where safe. because we are looking out for each other everybody watches out for each other's house. i

cannot believe that this type of thing happened here. >> the victim lives in alameda, but demordaunt says the mother in law moved into the area about a year ago. and, that everyone in that home was always polite. developing tonight. a stat a man san jose police say stabbed a woman to death. this is the suspect, 29- year-old juan ramirez. new tonight -- investigators say he and his victim were involved. but since then --- a restraining order had been filed against him. the murder happened yesterday afternoon. right now, police are asking for your help to track down kron4's rob fladeboe has the latest. >> she was a very nice young lady. >> reporter: john nguyen shared garage space with the victim, who lived with her young son in this apartment on first street and died in the parking lot after being stabbed multiple times by her ex boyfriend with what witnesses described as a butcher knife.

>> i did not see this man before i usually just saw her and her son. >> reporter: this was that same parking lot friday evening as heavily-armed police scoured the neighborhood for the killer, who was seen jumping a fence and escaping on foot. video from our helicopter partnership with abc 7 news shows squads of police, their guns drawn, going door to door in search of a man later identified as 29-year-old juan ramirez whom they say was stalking sandra cruces gonzales, his former girlfriend. >> we determined that this relationship and about two years ago but he was still stalking her.. >> reporter: police say gonzales had obtained a restraining order to keep ramirez away but a friend says he rebuffed her efforts to part ways and that friday

was not the first time he had made unwelcome visits to her apartment. >> she was doing all the right things by taking out restraining orders. >> reporter: as friends and neighbors stopped by to pay their respects a family member asked for time before making any public comment. the stabbing occurred across the street from the sheriff's office and a few blocks from police headquarters, officers were on scene within minutes but somehow ramirez managed to get away. in san jose rob fladeboe kron 4 news >> homicide detectives said that ramirez may be attempting to flee to mexico. and is possibly driving a dark green, 1996 toyota t- 100 pickup truck similar to the one you see on your screen. we'll continue to the monitor the search -- and bring you any updates as we get them.

>> a late night shooting at a san francisco nightclub left three people hurt. tonight -- the gunmen remain on the loose. kron 4's alecia reid tells us how it all went down, and has an update on the victims' conditions. >> reporter: shattered glass and a blood stained street are remnants of a late night triple shooting at the 330 ritch nightclub in san francisco's south of market neighborhood. authorities tell us one of the victims is still hospitalized. his condition has improved from critical to stable. the other two men were treated and are expected to be ok. witnesses that were inside the club tell us there were rival crews at the friday night party and an argument ensued. police say that altercation initiated the first round of gunfire inside the club. neighbors also heard more than a dozen shots outside the club, and at this public parking lot just down the block. witnesses say the suspects were walking in the streets with their guns drawn. for fear of safety, a cousin of one of the victims did not want his face on camera, but explains the chaos.

new tonight -- the dramatic 911 calls. just minutes after a baby was shot and killed in georgia. right now, two teenagers are charged with the murder. all this happened thursday, while the little boy was being pushed in a stroller by his mother. cristina mutchler has the latest. >> "911 operator: this is

brunswick 911, where's your emergency? >> caller: emergency at. woman says that her baby apparently's been hit in the head or shot. >> 911 operator:her baby has been hit in the head or shot? >> caller: shot. i can't tell. she's screaming now." >> reporter: a chilling 9-1- 1 call from a man who said he could see sherry west performing c-p-r on her 13- month-old son after he was shot in his stroller. police have now charged 17- year-old de'marquise elkins and a 14-year-old boy - whose name has not been released - with first- degree murder. according to authorities, elkins is being treated as an adult in criminal proceedings. elkins' aunt says police have the wrong person. >> "i am 100 percent positive that de'marquise elkins was not at the crime scene. he was at my residence." >> reporter: sherry west has strong words for the young men who are accused of killing her son, antonio. >> "you killed an innocent human life, and that um, i hope you die for it. and that's how i feel."

hundreds of guns turned in today at yet another gun buy back, this time in san jose. kron 4's mike pelton shows us why this one comes with some controversy. the f-b-i is asking for the public's help in identifying a serial bank robber in the east bay. dubbed the "button down bandit". he's accused of robbing a chase bank in palos verdes mall in walnut creek on march sixth. and a wells fargo bank on

this is video taken from denver, colorado. the national weather service says denver could see up to seven inches of snow today. adding on to the ten to fifteen inches of snowfall that has already fallen. a little ways north of denver travelers along interstate 25 were stopped cold by a major crash. the colorado state police says that as many as 20 to 50 vehicles were involved in the accident. including a semi-tanker that

caught on fire. meanwhile in the eastern part of the state. white-out conditions forced the closure of nearly 150-miles of interstate 70 from denver to the kansas state line. an already soggy mess in getting worse before it getsrain falling overnight friday and into saturday morning caused the flooding that you see here. but forecasters warn that the heavy snowstorm that's pounding colorado is on its way. bringing with it hail and many residents and business owners say the flooding is becoming a serious issue. president obama stepped back onto u-s soil tonight. air force one landed at joint base andrews in maryland, returning from a trip to the middle east. it's march madness, and tonight the cal bears had a big game against syracuse, unfortunately they lost, falling just short of the sweet sixteen!! kron 4's scott rates show us the sad night for cal fans. the number one overall team just keeps rolling. today louisville put on a show against eighth-seed colorado state. winning 82- to-56.

next up louisville will play 12th-seeded oregon on friday in indianapolis. harvard -- perhaps the tournaments biggest cinderella team thus far -- is heading home. arizona crushed them today. 74-to-51. mark lyons of arizona matched a career high by scoring 27 points as the sixth-seeded wildcats punched their ticket to the sweet sixteen. and we'll end with a major upset with number one gonzaga playing number nine wichita state. it was a close game going back in forth but in the end the first number one seed falls as gonzaga loses tonight 67-to-72. wichita state scored a season high 14 three- pointers -- including seven straight at one point late in the game. this is the first time wichita state has advanced to the sweet sixteen since 2006. coming up. you won't believe the lengths one guy went to impress a girl. and how it backfired!
